Support Historic Tax Credit Bills!
The BIA is part of a statewide coalition to strengthen the state's historic preservation tax credit program and increase the annual aggregate cap of this important economic development tool. Currently, the program is capped at $5 million annually, a highly inadequate sum given the demand for historic rehabilitation projects around the Commonwealth.
Call to Action in the Senate
Senators Nikil Saval (D-1) and Frank Farry (R-6) recently introduced S.B. 1259, which would raise the annual aggregate cap to $50 million, ensure syndicated partnerships with non-profits are eligible for the program, and increase funding to administer the program.

Call to Action in the House Representative Jim Prokopiak (D-140) introduced H.B. 2358, which would increase the annual aggregate cap to $20 million. The House Finance Committee passed H.B. 2358 on June 11. While this amount is lower than the Senate's, there is an opportunity to reconcile the two bills during the budget negotiation process.
